Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail at the Arab Association of Political Science conference in Cairo, where Amr Moussa paid him a visit
Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, Sudan's former Foreign Minister, took part in the closing session of the 7th annual conference of the Arab Association of Political Science in Cairo on 7–8 October 2026. During the conference he was visited by H.E. Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the Arab League.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, Sudan's former Foreign Minister, took part in the 7th annual academic conference of the Arab Association of Political Science, held on 7–8 October 2026 at the Egyptian Diplomatic Club of Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo. The conference ran under the patronage of Egypt's Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. Its theme was “Reflections of the Changing World Order on the Present and Future of the Arab Region and International Relations”.
The conference brought together Arab academics, thinkers, researchers and experts across eight sessions over two days. The sessions covered the structural shifts in the international order and the reshaping of the Middle East's regional system; contemporary wars and strategic realignment; rising powers and the international balance of power; energy and strategic corridors; international law and legitimacy; Palestine amid regional and international change; and the future of joint Arab action.
The conference closed with a session chaired by the Association's president, Prof. Gamal Zahran. Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail took part, alongside Prof. Ahmed Youssef Ahmed, former director of the Institute of Arab Research and Studies, and three officers of the Association: Prof. Hassan Jouni, its first vice-president; Prof. Mohammad Al Masalha, its treasurer; and Prof. Hanan Abu Sekkin, a member of its executive committee and the conference coordinator. Their contributions took up the main questions the conference had debated and where the international and regional shifts are heading.
On the sidelines of the conference, on Thursday 8 October 2026, H.E. Amr Moussa visited Dr. Mustafa at the Diplomatic Club. Mr. Moussa is a former Secretary-General of the Arab League and a former Foreign Minister of Egypt, and the meeting brought together two former foreign ministers whose years in office overlapped in joint Arab work.
At the close, the conference's main findings and recommendations were presented. Accepted peer-reviewed papers are to be published in the Arab Journal of Political Science, along with a special issue on the conference proceedings.
